Ceramics – Getting ready for Raku

Our next project in Ceramics is to make two small pieces to fire in a Raku kiln. One piece needed to be a soft form and the other to have a geometric element.

The soft form has been burnished with the back of a spoon – I really like the texture this has added to the piece, and the geometric has two fairly flat sides and one curved.

I enjoyed the process of joining two pinch pots together to make these. I haven’t done it before and it is quite fascinating that these two pieces of clay can be joined together so simply and they stay together. Here’s hoping they survive the firing!
