Back to TAFE today and in drawing we started our new project – a still life inspired by Margaret Preston. We will be working in earth tones on yellow ochre or brown Canson paper. I have chosen an Indian red paper, just to be different. 🙂

Margaret Preston had a very interesting style, very influenced by her printmaking work, with later work also inspired by Aboriginal art. She used patterns, outlines and earthtones to create really unusual paintings of Australian flowers in still lifes.

This is going to be an interesting experience, especially as it will be quite an unusual way to work.
