Painting – Impressionist Landscape in Acrylics and New Project started

We had half a lesson today to finish our impressionist landscapes. As I finished mine last week, my teacher suggested I start another one during the week to finish this lesson. Of course, I didn’t get one started so I took a small canvas (about 12″x18″) with me today and thought I could at least get another one started to finish at home.

Rather than coming up with a different landscape I decided to use the same sketch to work from but push the colours a little and just play. As I had already completed one landscape for this project, this second one could be more about seeing what I could do differently. And within an hour and a half, this was the end product…

I am happy with the outcome – I pushed the colours a little more and felt a bit more confident with this.

After our break we started into the next project, which will move towards a cubist work, not something I am really familiar with. But as the teacher said, that is why I am going to art school!

We are starting with sketches of a still life/mess of a set up – three of them in total from different angles/distance. Managed to complete the first one in the 20 minutes we had to sketch…

(Charcoal/A2 cartridge paper)

Not sure how I feel about this one but I’ll give it my best.
