Ceramics – Slab Sculpture Finished and New Extrusion Project Started

The copper wash has made a big difference to the look of this sculpture. I like how it has taken the edge off the brightness of the underglazes

Only one more project to complete for Ceramics before completion of this course.

Our last project is an Extrusion sculpture. We have been given the option of two shapes for the extruder (I think they are the only ones they have) – a square or a circle. We have to come up with a sculpture – either one larger piece or 2-3 smaller pieces. I think I will probably do 2-3 as this one is not really large.

Here is what I came up with…

Will have to do a bit of tidying up on this as I ran out of time in class, what with having to do the Raku firing as well today.

  1. Ceramic work in theses last two posts are amazing.

This one reminds me of an IRA kneecapping hit….

    • Thanks Cindy,

Yes, the ‘body cast’ is probably the title of this one. It was going to be a rag doll type figure, but I cut it short, so to speak 🙂 . I am going to make another one or two to go with it, maybe arms for one and a torso for the other. Who knows where these weird ideas come from!
