Mississhippi's Madness

A place to share my creative pursuits

A year of mayhem finished… hope for more to come

Well, that’s it. It’s over. Today I handed in all my artworks for assessment. Six subjects, three days a week, one year… done.

It has been a great year. I have learnt so much in the way of techniques and new media. I am really looking forward to applying it all to my art practice.

I have made some wonderful friends over the year. In fact, a few of us are heading into Sydney to go to the Picasso exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW next week, and early next year hopefully a trip down to Canberra for the Renaissance exhibition at the National Gallery.

As my sister-in-law did the course with me, we are hoping to work together heading out to sketch, take photos and just generally keep using all we have learnt on a regular basis.

My next step is to take a break and enjoy preparing for Christmas, and to tidy up the spare room that has become a den of absolute mess, full of all my art supplies and work, as well as my daughters. I look forward to finding the floor again – I think there is a rug down there somewhere.

And I want to get some soft pastels onto paper again. I have so missed them this year and was very disappointed when we only used them for a mixed media piece in painting. I have a portrait I want to work on and I have a dog portrait to finish.

I also have some projects to work on with my local art group which are looking promising for next year.

So many things to do, so much time ahead… I can’t wait.
