Today was to be the day I picked up my pastels and set to work again. I’ve been itching to start drawing again.
Alas, everyday life got in the way. My husband’s back went on him this morning and my daughter had a temperature overnight. So today I’m at home caring for two invalids.
But that is okay. I want to help them both to get well. And just because I’m busy doing things, doesn’t mean I can’t be planning and scheming away as I work.
I have some photos ready to use for reference for a new dog drawing and also for a portrait. I am working out some ideas for some new ceramics based around Alice in Wonderland for a girlfriend who loves all things Alice.
So I’ll use the time to prepare my ‘To Do’ list. Or maybe I’ll call it my ‘Want to Do’ list.
And I’ll sit quietly and do some reading – Janny Wurts has a new volume out which I received for my birthday, and I have some lovely new art books to browse including Margaret Preston, Margaret Olley, the Pre-Raphaelites, Hokusai, and a fantastic book about gargoyles. I can walk away from a book to help my family, but it’s a lot harder to put down the pastel stick (and a lot messier!)
