Didn’t really have much time today – getting ready for a birthday party – but I wanted to at least try and draw something. I’ve been feeling a yearning to draw. I think I’m missing the constant creativity of attending college. So, whilst eating my breakfast at about 7.30am, I picked up the ballpoint pen and sketched the first thing I saw.
I don’t think I was thinking quite straight this morning after only four hours sleep. You’d think I’d have been sensible and gone to bed early the night before a birthday party! But where is the fun in that. Even my daughter was awake at midnight last night, the first time ever for her – though she wasn’t supposed to be, but I think the excitement of a birthday party got the better of her, and it wasn’t even hers. So we all watched the fireworks on the TV at midnight, as well as those that went off locally (even though fireworks are banned here in NSW).
Everyone has left now, we have too much food leftover, a daughter with a sugar high and my eyelids are drooping as I type. Good thing I didn’t try and sketch tonight – who knows what I’d have ended up with on the paper.
