St Bartholomew’s – Work in Progress

Managed to get back to my St Bart’s drawing this week after a couple of weeks break due to school holidays.

St Barts_6a_webI decided I needed to try and tackle the corrugated roof. I really wasn’t sure how to proceed with this, so I sat and looked at the picture of the roof until it came to me to try it this way. I’m really happy with the result. I also quickly marked in some black next to the tower and quickly realised that I really needed to put some more into the sky.

St Barts_6b_webThe black of the pastel is much richer than that of the Coulourfix paper so it made an immediate difference to the look of the drawing. I also started to mark in some of the darks in the tree.

St Barts_6c_webThis is where I left it after two hours. The roof has added some real movement into this drawing.

I have to do more work on the facade of the church. It is looking really neglected right now.  The grass is looking a little flat and I need to think about how to tackle that too.

It is starting to look the way I envisage it.

(Next time I will photograph this in better light. There is some reflection from the fluoro lights in the art room)

  1. That’s a terrific drawing

  2. Lovely Elaine. I think a greyscale palette really suits you!

  3. When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and
now each time a comment is added I get three emails
with the same comment. Is there any way you can remove people from that service?
    Cheers!

    • I did a search on unsubscribing from comments in wordpress and was directed to this page http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/unsubscribe-from-comments-1?replies=11

Not sure if this will help you. It may only help if you are a member of wordpress.

Usually there would be some sort of link to go to a page to unsubscribe in the email you receive. I don’t usually subscribe to comments so I have not had that problem, and I am unable to affect your subscriptions to my comments.

Sorry I can’t be of more assistance.
If I come across anything else that may help you I’ll let you know.
      Elaine
